Introducing..... Handmade Heaven

When I first started this blog I was a bit stuck as to how I would keep everyone interested as I don't particularly do anything crafty or handmade but love "handmade"... if that makes sense.

Anyway, so I have decided to help my fellow "Handmadies" promote themselves via my blog.

My first promotion is......

I interviewed Liesa from Hadmade Heaven who gave us a little insite into her new little boutique and herself... enjoy!

1. How long has Handmade Heaven been open for? Handmade Heaven officially opened on 16th June. This is week 3 for me.

2. How did the Handmade Heaven concept start? Doing the Handmade Expo, I found a niche in the South East Queensland market for a handmade only shop. If it wasnt for The Handmade Expo, I would not have Handmade Heaven. Thats why I still go to the markets and get Leisha (a very dear and trusted friend) to look after my shop.

3. Now, I know this is a hard question but if you could choose one favourite Handmadie, who would that be? oooo, I would have to say that I have 2...Bubba Chenille and Cute as Buttons

4. How do you go about selling your handmade product in Handmade Heaven? You basically lease out some space to promote and sell your handmade goodies. Just email me at handmadeheaven@optusnet.com.au and I will email you terms and conditions.

5. What is your favourite colour? It has always been purple, but I would have to say that I am surrounded by pink and brown sooo much that they would have to be my 2 faves

6. You are also one of the co-ordinators of The Handmade Expo (as am I), what is it about The Handmade Expo that sets it apart from the other markets? We are very family orientated. We like to treat people the way that we like to be treated. We stay at the market from open to close and we also have time for our stallholders. WE keep them very up to date with the goings on of the market. We are very different and we find once you come to us you will become a regular.

7. Who would you like to see fill out the Handmadie Questionnaire next? I would have to say Mum from Bubba Chenille...Keep it in the family.

8. Describe yourself in one sentence. I am a very driven person and once I get an idea in my head, good luck trying to stop me.

9. Now give yourself a plug, where can we find you, how can we contact you?? You can find me at Handmade Heaven which is located at Shop #11, 231 Brisbane St, Ipswich.. In the Old Flour Mill. My website is http://www.handmadeheaven7.blogspot.com/ and email is handmadeheaven@optusnet.com.au Come on down and say hi. I am always up for a chat. Why not do some handmade shopping while you are here!

Thank you so much Liesa for a little bit of insite into Handmade Heaven. If you haven't already ventured down to the Old Flour Mill, make sure you put it on your things to do - you won't be dissapointed.

Keep an eye our for the next Handmadie to appear here.... If you would like to give yourself a plug and be apart of it please shoot me a comment and let me know otherwise, I might just turn up on your doorstep.

The Handmade Expo - Another Success

Thank you to everyone for Saturday's Handmade Expo. It was another success with 1100 people venturing through the doors to check it all out. It was wonderful to see the faithful stallholders and also some new faces, which we always welcome.
Many comments made about all the different types of handmade items this month including Paula Fay Designs new invention called the Modesty Mate... if you are a breastfeeding mum or know a mum that is breastfeeding, you should really check these out. Also a lot of comments about the fabulous cupcake ladies... we have 2 beautiful stalls of cupcakes that just seem to sell out every month... so if you want to try the delicious cupcakes make sure you come and see them on the 15th of August at the Ipswich Turf Club, Brisbane Rd, Bundamba.
A lot of comments also on the wonderful music being played... thank you to our wonderful muso's this month and we look forward to seeing you at the August Expo.
Well, that's all from me... thank you all once again for your fabulous support... with out all of you the Handmade Expo would not happen.
Take care, until next time.

See you ALL Tomorrow

Well, this will be my last post until early next week to let you all know what a FAB time we had at The Handmade Expo. I am looking forward to seeing the wonderfully talented stallholders again as it seems like it has been FOREVER (well, really it has been) and of course all the wonderful customers through the door to come and experience the world of Handmade.
The Expo will be open at the Ipswich Showgrounds from 8am to 2pm (81 Warwick Road, Ipswich).
Also, since you are in town why not drop off to Handmade Heaven for a double Handmade dose to check out Liesa's new boutique at the Old Flour Mill at the Top of Town.. It looks absolutely amazing.
I have butterflies as I am typing this but as all your friendly faces start arriving nice and early in the morning, they will all fly away.
Have a good sleep everyone... See you tomorrow.

My First Creation

Well... here I am - laying it all out on the line - I never thought I would be so nervous... I am asking my fellow bloggers - what do you think?

I am not one that is creative with my hands.. however, I love The Handmade Expo and think that I am creative in other ways.. but thought I would put my hands and creativity to the test. As I was shopping at the "Habby" store with Mum we came across some items that I thought I could get creative with. I then had the pleasure in picking materials as well. OMG - how hard is it to match different materials - I didn't think it was going to be soooo hard.

So anyway, after sometime I had chosen my material, a new pair of scissors and a vision of what I was going to finish with. After about 1 hour and 1 blister later I had my masterpiece. Feeling quite proud of myself this is the first of my creations and now I am asking you - my fellow Bloggers - what do you think???

Please leave me your comments (good and not so good)... LOL

The Handmade Expo - WE ARE BACK!

Well, the Handmade Expo is returning this weekend, Saturday 27th June at the Ipswich Showgrounds (81 Warwick Road), Ipswich. Starting at 8am and finishing at 2pm this should give you ALL enough time to do some handmade shopping from all our wonderful and talented "HANDMADIES".

Our last Expo was in March, so it has been a little while since we have been in town - so come on down. It's $2 entry, we will have our fabo coffee man on standby for your coffee fix (thanks Aaron) and we have MS doing a sausage sizzle.

I personally am looking forward to seeing Bubba Chenille and Cute as Buttons but also have to say that I am loving Lilly Cottage at the moment. Since I have 2 boys I don't really get to enjoy the "girlie" things in life so I even just enjoy jumping on their blog / website and checking out the pink things!

I have decided that when my little man grows up and decides to leave the cot and move in with his big brother then that room will become MY room... I have decided completely pink, shabby chic and ALL MINE!

I hope you are enjoying the blog... I am still learning so when I learn how to do the photo thing you guys will be the first to know.

See you all on Saturday!

FIRST BLOGGING EXPERIENCE

Well, hello all - here I am... Finally I have started a blog. Not too much to report ATM but wanted to introduce myself and hopefully let you get a feel about why I started a blog and what I am about!

As most of you know I am 1/3 Handmade Expo co-ordinator, wife, mother, full time worker and twin sister to Liesa who is also 1/3 Handmade Expo coordinator and business owner of the fab new boutique Handmade Heaven.

My mother, Miriam (AKA Bubba Chenille), Liesa and myself started the Handmade Expo nearly 1 year ago after we found a niche in the South East Queensland region for a handmade market only... so here we are - nearly 1 year later!

Anyway - the blog name... well, thanks to Liesa, this is a "new" word of hers which I love and since she already has a blog thought I would get her new word out there - hence the name "HANDMADIES".

Hopefully in my new world of blogland I will be able to keep you up to date with my fabulous new handmade purchases, what's happening in the world of handmade and what's happening with Moi!

Thanks for listening...
